Overview
When interacting with multiple external systems (supplier systems, for example), having a centralised view of these interactions and their outcome is fundamental. Making accessible non-technical information enables further autonomy for users who can take agile follow-up actions directly with suppliers having enough contextual information.
This is the purpose of the Booking History area in TripBuilder.
Booking History for an Itinerary
The Booking History always presents context information for a specific itinerary. This simplified view of actions and data versus having all booking history for all itineraries together enables a more accessible and focused understanding of the flow with supplier systems, usually as a pair of a request and a result (successful or a failure).
To access the Booking History:
1. Go to Customer Care
2. Select the intended itinerary by clicking on its ID
3. In the actions specific to the chosen itinerary, on the left side of the screen, click on Booking History under the section BEHIND THE SCENES.
Booking Entries are ordered chronologically following the date they were Created On. Additional detail about the occurrence time is presented when hovering the date value.
Besides the Created On field, eight other fields are also present in tabular format by default:
- Action: the operations conducted on the supplier system, with three possible values: Availability, Book and Cancel.
- State: the result of the action, with three possible values: Requested (when TripBuilder invokes the supplier system), Completed or Failed (as a result of TripBuilder's request).
- Category Type: the component type from the supplier system.
- Supplier: the specific name of the Supplier.
Please note: Regarding accommodations, and since technical connections are with TravelGateX (independently of the specific accommodation supplier behind), TravelGateX will always be indicated as the Supplier. |
- ID: TripBuilder's internal component id that relates to the request.
- Ext. Booking ID: the ID in the supplier system, if made available by the supplier
- On Request: a Boolean value indicating if the component refers to an "On Request". If so, a booking request cannot be confirmed immediately.
- Message: shows technical feedback received from the supplier, which is the best source for discovering the error's reason, if present. Information appears in a popup triggered when clicking on the View link. The technical message can be copied from the modal to a support ticket for follow-up.
As secondary support, two additional fields are available by clicking the Selected Columns icon at the top right of the Booking Entries table: Check-In Date and Check-Out Date. These indicate the start and end times of each itinerary component, respectively.
The visibility provided by Booking History enables users to have a better understanding and more confidence in recovering from booking/booking change/cancellation failures with the additional data and insights to base decisions.
