Overview
When adding live flight components to an itinerary provided by SoftConEx or AERTiCKET, TripBuilder enables the presentation of the Air Fare Rules related to each flight result. Air Fare Rules consist of detailed (and sometimes complex) information on the rules (for example, selling, discounts, or applicability) for a flight.
What is an Air Fare Rule?
An Air Fare Rule consists of detailed information about a flight. The data is quite complete but also complex to interpret due to the information's extent and usage of flight-specific codes that only an experienced Agent can fully interpret. The three screenshots below represent some segments of the same fare rule, which isn't intended to be extensive but shows the underlying complexity.
Air Fare Rules are provided in real-time from GDS. Thus, the information is always the most up-to-date at the time.
Due to the specificity of this information, it might not make sense to present it in some use cases. While relevant in a B2B use case where Agents could effectively use this information, in a B2C use case focused on the end client/traveller, this will not bring any added value.
Air Fare Rules in TripBuilder
Air Fare Rules only apply to live supply flight components and are presented in the Planner.
At the Planner and reaching the Transports step (previously configured as enabled), conduct a flight search. From the result list, Select one flight result.
In the Flight detail screen, click on Show Fare rules at the bottom for the selected result.
A pop-up presents the Fare Rules retrieved from the GDS. All information is read only and for consultation purposes. To return to the previous screen, click the close icon at the top right of the pop-up or the Close button at the bottom.
Air Fare Rules Configuration
Air Fares Rules are configured per Distribution Channel. To reach this configuration:
- Go to Settings.
- Click on Distribution Channels.
- Click on your TripBuilder ID.
- Select the Planner tab.
- Scroll down on the tab until reaching Transports, where the Show Flight Rate Rules configuration is available.
The presentation of Flight Rate Rules can be configured with one of four values:
- Enabled for all users
- Enabled for travel agents and employees
- Enable for employees only
- Disabled
These four options provide sufficient flexibility to cover B2B and B2C use cases.
