Overview
While adding a flight provided by SoftConEx or AERTiCKET live API to an itinerary, TripBuilder can present the underlying air fare. Fare types depend on a first instance of contractual terms and configurations with SoftConEx or AERTiCKET. Travel professionals can use this information to distinguish which base rules and conditions apply (at a high level) to each flight offering. Details on the specifics for each fare type are also available as textual fare rules.
TripBuilder Supported Air Fares
Acronym in TripBuilder | Name | Private/Public Fare Source | Description |
NET |
CONSO (Consolidator Fare) |
Private |
A consolidator is an outlet for airline tickets. It's a company that buys tickets from the airlines at wholesale or net prices (without any commission built into the price) and is, therefore, able to offer discounted prices. These fares tend to have complex restrictions but can be cheaper than buying directly from the airline. Consolidator fares are found to have the most savings on international flights. |
NEG |
NEGO (Negotiated Fare) |
Private | Negotiated fares are special discounted prices established between a company and an airline or between a travel agency and an airline. |
PUB |
PUB (Publish Fare) |
Public | International basic fares are regulated by IATA, which doesn't depend on the airline. |
TOP |
TOP (Tour Operator Fare) |
Private | Negotiated fares that are only available to Tour Operators. |
Know more: Air fares always have associated rules and conditions about the flight. These rules and conditions consist of detailed (and sometimes complex) information on selling, discounts, cancellation and other policies for a flight. Please check the article Air Fare Rules for further information on accessing them in Planner and real examples. |
Air Fare Display in Planner
Air fares are presented in Planner when using the TripBuilder application (B2B use case).
Air fares aren't presented in Planner when embedded as an IBE (B2C use case).
The rationale for the behaviour distinction is due to the travel business knowledge required to effectively understand and interpret it, which is available to a Tour Operator or Travel Agent but not to a regular end client/traveller.
For the B2B use case, in the Transports tab, when presenting the flight results, each entry has an acronym with the associated air fare type (on the left side of the Select button - e.g. "Pub" as displayed in the following screenshot).
When clicking on the Select button, the Transports detail page is presented for the intended result, where the air fare type isn't available but, instead, clicking on the Show Fare Rules link will open a modal with the underlying rules and conditions.
Air Fare Display in Cockpit
Regardless of using Planner in a B2B or B2C use case, air fares are always presented in Customer Care when the information is made available by the supplier/carrier. Follow the steps:
1. Click on Customer Care.
2. Select the intended itinerary from the list.
3. Click on Services & Price List on the left side of the screen under the Itinerary section.
4. Scroll down until reaching the Transportation component section.
5. Air fares are presented in the Description column at the end of all flight details.
