Overview
The Planner Copilot is an advanced AI tool developed by Nezasa that is designed to help users plan trips efficiently. This AI-powered solution helps users create bookable itineraries by providing expert travel suggestions based on natural language input.
Planner Copilot simplifies the trip creation process. It allows users to design detailed itineraries without the need for strict commands or rules, making travel planning faster and more intuitive.
Important: The Planner Copilot is generally available as a paid add-on. Please contact our Support team or your Customer Success Manager to request and configure it. The feature can be enabled for all your users, just your B2B users (travel agents and employee users), or just your employee users. |
Feature Highlights
The Planner Copilot significantly improves the travel planning experience by providing users with AI-powered suggestions and enabling faster, smarter trip design. Instead of manually searching for travel options across multiple platforms, users can communicate with Planner Copilot to receive tailored recommendations and create bookable itineraries in real time.

Use Cases
With generative AI applications such as Planner Copilot, use cases are often limited by the imagination of how such a tool can be used. Here are a few examples you might find interesting.
-
You know what you want
You can quickly enter the itinerary you need, for example: "2 days New York, 3 days Miami, start Nov 1, 2 adults, 1 child"
-
Replicate a trip
You or your customer has an itinerary description (a text from a newspaper, the itinerary schedule of some website). Simply copy/paste the text to Planner Copilot! -
Be Explorative
Let the AI help you find good ideas. You don't need to tell the destination at all. You can also formulate wishes like: "Propose a trip with great scenic views, a lot of nature, around 2 weeks, and if possible, in a destination I can reach with a 5h flight from central Europe".
As you can see, how you use the Planner Copilot is really up to you. We believe we'll see many great use cases from all users and look forward to further improving the Planner Copilot to support even more use cases in the future.
How It Works
Planner Copilot is currently leveraging OpenAI's latest generative AI models (i.e., a Large Language Model - LLM) and combines them with TripBuilder's powerful Itinerary API to create a bookable itinerary from the AI suggestions.
- The user provides a question or command (the so-called "user prompt")
- TripBuilder refines the prompt and then sends it to the AI
- TripBuilder receives the AI's response and pre-processes it
- TripBuilder streams the answer as a response to the user's browser. TripBuilder's UI also dynamically generates a simple preview of the itinerary in the sidebar.
The above 4 steps describe the base interaction between the user, TripBuilder, and the AI services. They can be repeated as often as the user wishes due to refinement prompts entered by the user. Once the user is happy with the itinerary suggestion, the user clicks on the button Next, selects the start date and room preferences, and triggers the handover of the suggestion to TripBuilder to create a bookable itinerary.
General Usage Remarks
Scope and Process of Interaction
The AI chatbot allows users to refine their itinerary by engaging in an iterative process. Prompts can be adjusted with each interaction, and Planner Copilot updates its suggestions based on new input. Context is maintained during active conversations but is lost when the conversation window is closed. To continue the conversation later, users should ask the AI for a summary and save it for reference.
Multi-language Support
Planner Copilot supports multiple languages for user interaction. The localisation of the TripBuilder user interface follows standard practice, with a language drop-down available for selection. However, the AI chatbot will always respond in the same language in which the user initiates the conversation. This ensures seamless, personalised responses regardless of the language selected.
Source of Proposed Hotels
The hotels suggested by the chatbot are still taken from the AI's general knowledge. We plan to restrict it to your TripBuilder hotel supply in Q3/early Q4 2024.
However, when the AI suggestion is converted to a bookable itinerary, TripBuilder will only use your usual hotel supply. If the hotel proposed by the AI is not among your hotels, TripBuilder tries to insert a reasonable hotel whenever possible.
Embedding Planner Copilot into your website
The Planner Copilot chatbot is a standalone page hosted at /planner-copilot. You can directly link to the Planner Copilot from your website or an email.
Note also that you can even pass the first prompt via the URL parameter. Let's say you want to pass "design a 2 weeks Italy trip", then you would link to:
https://<your-tripbuilder-ibe-domain>/planner-copilot?q=design%20a%202%20weeks%20Italy%20trip
Notes:
- The value of the q parameter needs to be encoded by URL.
- The feature must be enabled for all users, not just your B2B users or employees.
- You have to use the IBE domain of TripBuilder
Configuration Options
The configuration options are generally per distribution channel and can be found in the distribution channel settings on the tab "Discovery"
Setting | Description |
Restrict to these destination countries |
If defined, the copilot will only propose trips to and within these destinations. |
Exclude these destination countries |
If defined, the copilot will not propose trips to or within these destinations. This setting is ignored if a restriction to specification destination countries has been defined. |
Usage of the External OpenAI Platform
When using the Planner Copilot, only the messages entered by the user are shared with the OpenAI platform to process responses. No personally identifiable information (PII) is included in the data shared, ensuring privacy and security. Additional information, such as product names and descriptions, may be sent in future updates, but sensitive customer data will always remain protected. In addition, OpenAI does not use any data for model training, ensuring that all interactions remain private and are not used for external purposes.
