Overview
The "Multi-Modal Connections" feature enables the creation of various connection types between two already-defined stops in the Route Builder. This feature allows for the setup of a transport chain using different transport modes. Users can select and associate a supply offer with the planner depending on the selected product type.
How to Define a Multi-Modal Connection
The Route Builder sets up a multi-modal connection within the context of an itinerary, which can result from a template instantiation or by creating your own tour.
Please note: Example of a multi-modal connection
|
1. Navigate to the Route Builder.
2. Change the connection type between the two stops where you wish to define a multi-modal connection. For instance, this could be the connection between Christchurch and Nadi.
3. The multi-modal connection builder appears. This tool creates a multi-modal connection between the selected stops, which are displayed as fixed and unchangeable.
4. Add the necessary intermediate stops as required. These can be airports or other specific stops. For example:
- Christchurch International Airport
- Nadi International Airport
5. Define the appropriate connection types between the stops. For instance:
- Shuttle ride between Christchurch and Christchurch International Airport
- Flight between Christchurch International Airport and Nadi International Airport
- Shuttle ride between Nadi International Airport and Nadi
Please note: While creating or defining stops and connections, the map preview dynamically shows the updates. |
6. Click the Update button.
7. Upon returning to the Route Builder, the multi-modal connection between the two stops is shown, including icons representing the different transport types included.
8. Clicking the Update button again within the Route Builder will navigate the user to the Planner. Here, each part of the multi-modal connection is displayed sequentially. As TripBuilder supports the selected product types (e.g., transfers and flights) for live supply and inventory, the “Add Transfer/Add Flight” action buttons are available to add these products to the itinerary.
Configuration
The “Multi-Modal Connections“ feature can be configured per Distribution Channel with the following steps:
1. Go to Settings.
2. Click on Distribution Channels.
3. Select your TripBuilder ID.
4. Click on the Planner tab.
5. Scroll down to the Route Builder section.
6. Enable or disable the Multi-Modal Connections setting.
7. Save your changes by clicking the button at the top right of the page.
Please note: The "Multi-Modal Connections" feature can affect how certain connection types are treated, making them immutable (i.e., unable to be changed by the user in Route Builder):
