Overview
Airports can be classified differently according to multiple factors (private, regional, national, global or military, for example). TripBuilder has an internal classification for Major Airports, a subset of all airports, more suitable for tourist travel.
This article explains how to enable/disable the restriction to Major Airports.
How to enable/disable "Restrict to Major Airports"
The Restrict to Major Airports setting affects the airport search for the from-scratch itinerary feature and the airport search within the Route Builder. If enabled, only major airports with higher touristic value will appear in the search results, while the remaining will be filtered out (not considered even when defining the start/end airport or in the results when using metropolitan area codes for determining the search).
Know more: In addition to individual-airport codes, IATA, the FAA, and various booking engines have assigned metropolitan area codes representing several airports serving a metropolitan area. Metropolitan area airport codes are handy for simplifying flight searches into or out of a region. Some booking engines, which include airports based on distance from a point, can extend the search of airports by using a metropolitan code. |
To enable/disable the Restrict to Major Airports feature:
- Go to Settings.
- Click on Distribution Channels.
- Click on your TripBuilder ID.
- Click on the Planner tab.
- Select the checkbox value associated with Restrict to Major Airports.
- Click Save.
