Overview
For modules and activities with occupancy-based pricing types, the allowed occupancies per room type, as well as the occupancy distribution between adults and children allowed, can be changed.
The configuration of the room types at the module level has no direct dependency on accommodation inventory products referenced in the module. But it should be ultimately backed by its respective overnight hotel references. Inventory accommodations are controlled by the inventory users when building the multi-day tour.
Important: To change room occupancies in room types, it is necessary to enable group tour configuration in settings! The feature flag is not yet revealed to customers and needs to be enabled by our Support Team. Get in touch for more details. |
Change Room Type Occupancy
Learn more about occupancy-based pricing types here.
When creating an occupancy-based module or activity, it is required to choose the room types. Then in a second step, it is possible to change occupancies if required.
Standard Occupancy |
Each room type has an established standard pax occupancy required. E.g: Single Room (1 pax), Double Room (2 Pax), Triple Room (3 Pax), Quadruple Room (4Pax); |
Minimum Occupancy |
Minimum number of people necessary to book the room; |
Maximum Occupancy |
Maximum number of people allowed to book the room; |
Minimum Occupancy Adults |
Minimum number of adults that can be accommodated in the room; |
Maximum occupancy Adults |
Maximum number of adults that can be accommodated in the room; |
Max. Number of Children |
Maximum number of children that can be accommodated in the room; |
When the minimum and max occupancy differ from Standard occupancy in each room type, then it is possible to add differentiated rates per pax for over and under-occupancy room scenarios.
For a better understanding of what is the defined room occupancy, there is a visual aid informing the room occupancy conditions. Indicating if there are over and under-occupancy scenarios in place for each room type.
Over-occupancy Scenario
When there are more people allowed in a room, e.g., a double room with 3 pax occupancy allowed. Then an input field is prompted in the pricing area, which allows defining if the 3rd person has a discounted rate in relation to the standard occupancy rate.
Please note: When there are over-occupancy scenarios and the additional person is a child, then the child reduction applies in regard to the standard occupancy rate. And it does not accumulate with the over-occupancy discounted value if configured. |
Over-occupancy rates for the additional person in a room can be set in different ways:
- As a percentage difference subtracted from the standard occupancy default rate value;
- As a monetary amount difference subtracted from the standard occupancy default rate value;
- As an absolute rate that is paid by each additional pax above the standard occupancy definition;
-
Double Room without discounted rate for the 3rd person: set to 0 if there is no discount!
-
Double Room with a discounted rate for the 3rd person: a monetary value that will be discounted from the standard occupancy rate!
- Double room where the additional persons will pay a specific rate!
Under-occupancy Scenario
When fewer people are allowed in regard to the standard occupancy of a room, then it is also possible to apply an under-occupancy supplement per pax. E.g., in a double room that allows single occupancy, the person in the room pays the standard occupancy rate of the room + the under-occupancy room supplement.
Similarly, as in the over-occupancy scenario, there are three different ways to adjust rates:
- As a percentage difference in addition to the standard occupancy default rate value;
- As a monetary amount difference in addition to the standard occupancy default rate value;
- As an absolute rate that is paid by person below the standard occupancy definition;
- Double Room with single occupancy, paying the full rate for the room (100%)!
-
Double Room with single occupancy where the person has a reduced rate instead of paying the full rate for the room!
- Double room with single occupancy where the person has a defined rate that needs to be paid as an absolute value set per pax!
